Geo Chem Laboratory’s, ISO 17025 accredited, Food Analysis Division can be rated as one of the best and most diverse food-testing laboratory in the country.

General Analysis:
The general analysis parameters are designed to ensure proper product manufacture and marketability. Sampling, laboratory testing and product certification covering a wide range of parameters including:

Basic Chemical Analysis – (Moisture, Fats, Oil, FFA, Protein, Carbohydrate, Sugars, Minerals, etc.)
Analysis of Food Additives
Analysis of Nutritional Facts and Labeling
Sensory Tests
Physical Tests
Microbiological Tests

Analysis of Organic and Inorganic Residues and Contaminants:

These are compounds that require special attention because of their toxicity is very harmful and can find their way into the food chain via different paths. They include constituents of emissions released during combustion and other industrial processes, substances from packaging materials, residues from solvents and preservatives, etc. One of the essential conditions for taking the necessary measures to minimize these toxic compounds is to detect them by analysis using the best possible instruments, ensuring reliable results.

Analysis of Trace Metals
Analysis of PCB’s
Analysis of PAH’s
Analysis of Organic Materials
Analysis of Inorganic Materials
Analysis of other Contaminants

Analysis of Drug / Antibiotic Residues:

Veterinary drugs are used in specific cases such as stock farming of cattle, poultry and seafood and also as ingredients of animal feed. The main purpose of these substances being used is to promote growth, performance during fattening or to prevent diseases. Residues of such drugs pass into our food chain and can be detected by analysis of the products at the laboratory.

Chloramphenicol
Sulphonamides
Nitrofurans and metabolites
Tetracyclines and Oxytetracylines
Beta Lactum
Quinolones

Analysis of Pesticide Residues:

“Pesticides” is a general term for all plant protection and pest control agents and chemical that are used for protecting agricultural products in farms as well as during storage. Pesticides and their metabolites find their way into the human body through the food chain and the water cycle. To protect the consumer, maximum levels of pesticide residues are set by National Authorities as well as the International Authorities. Our laboratory is equipped to carry out the pesticide residue analysis to ensure that samples / products comply to these stringent maximum permissible levels.

Organochlorine pesticides
Organiphosphorus pesticides
Organonitro pesticides (Carbamates)
Organosulphur pesticides (Dithiocarbamates)
Pyrethroids
Synthetic Pyrethroids
Herbicides

Analysis of Mycotoxins:

Numerous moulds and fungi have the ability to form poisonous substances and pass them into the environment in which they grow.  These substances are known and mycotoxins (myco = fungus ; toxin = poison) These are very harmful and in some cases proved to be carcinogenic to humans.

Aflatoxin B1
Aflatoxin B2
Aflatoxin G1
Aflatoxin G2
Aflatoxin M1

Analysis of adulteration and contaminants in food and food products:
With contaminants like dyes, coloring agents, chemicals, etc being used to manipulate the natural characteristics of various food products in the market, Geo Chem Laboratories have facilities to detect and advise the manufacturer, consumer, health and food authorities on the use of such products.

Detection of Sudan Dyes I, II, III and IV in chilli products
Detection of Adulteration of Vegetable oils
Detection of lead chromate in Turmeric Powder

Our Laboratory is equipped with specialised instruments such as LC - GC MS / MS for Pesticide and Antibiotic residues analysis and G. C. for Fatty acid composition in Vegetable oil, H.P.T.L.C.  for Aflatoxin   analysis,   ICP  &  AAS   for  Heavy  &   Toxic   metal   analysis,  UV – VIS   spectrophotometer,   Fourier   Transform   Infra  Red   Spectrophotometer,   Gerhardt   Protein   Analyser   and   various   other   instruments   to   carry   out   the   tests   on   Agri  products   that  are  required   by   International   specifications,   Indian   specifications   &   the   customer   requirements.

We are also carrying out analysis of Food / Agricultural Products as per PFA  (The Prevention of Food Adulteration Act).

Geo Chem Laboratory is approved by the following bodies:
